Senator John Curtis addresses Minneapolis tragedy and Utah’s role in energy innovation

Senator John Curtis, who represents Utah’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed a range of issues on his social media account, from national tragedies to energy policy and resource development.

On August 27, 2025, Curtis commented on recent events in Minneapolis: “I am devastated for the families in Minneapolis who are living every parent’s worst nightmare. The level of evil behind this attack is beyond comprehension. My heart is with the families mourning unimaginable loss, the injured children, and the entire community shaken by this”.

The following day, August 28, 2025, Curtis highlighted Utah’s role in energy innovation: “Great to be with the Business Council for Sustainable Energy to discuss how Utah’s leadership in innovation and energy independence can help build an affordable, reliable, and clean energy future.”

On August 29, 2025, he focused on natural resources and rural economic growth: “As we work to unlock America’s abundant natural resources, Utah will play a central role in driving that growth. Last week, I met with Utah’s mining leaders and local officials to discuss how we can strengthen rural economies, responsibly develop domestic resources, and ensure”.

Curtis has served as a member of Congress since replacing Jason Chaffetz in 2017. He was born in Salt Lake City in 1960 and currently resides in Provo. Curtis graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985.
