Senator John Curtis, who represents Utah’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several policy issues in a series of posts on his Twitter account in early May 2026.

On May 4, Curtis highlighted concerns about China’s actions regarding Taiwan and global infrastructure security. He wrote, “Sabotaging vital undersea cables is one of China’s tactics to isolate Taiwan from the rest of the world. It’s critical to our national security that we ensure the resiliency of these cables to deter China’s aggression and avoid major global economic and military devastation.”

The following day, Curtis turned his attention to education policy. On May 5, he posted, “The success of many students at community and technical colleges—who often balance family, work, and school—isn’t fairly counted in current graduation metrics. Our bill brings greater transparency and fairness to the college reporting process, which helps students and families”.

Later on May 5, Curtis discussed environmental stewardship during an event at Utah Valley University (UVU). He stated, “By taking a smart, market-driven, and pro-innovation approach, we can honor our stewardship over the earth and reduce global emissions without sacrificing the way of life we enjoy as Utahns and Americans. Enjoyed being at @UVU for a robust and thoughtful discussion on how we can”.

Curtis has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Jason Chaffetz as representative for Utah’s 3rd district. Born in Salt Lake City in 1960 and currently residing in Provo, Curtis graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985.
