Senator John Curtis, who represents Utah’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted key legislative efforts and community engagement through a series of posts on April 16, 2026.
In one post, Curtis discussed congressional oversight regarding Taiwan: “Since the Taiwan Relations Act became law in 1979, Congress has played the leading role in the U.S.-Taiwan relationship. Later that day, Curtis described an interaction with students and teachers from Utah: “Great meeting with more than 40 students and teachers from Vernal and Manila, Utah, for a meaningful discussion on the policy issues top of mind for young people. It’s always energizing to hear directly from students visiting our nation’s capital.” (April 16, 2026).
Curtis also reaffirmed U.S. support for Taiwan in another post: “U.S. support for Taiwan remains rock solid—built upon shared democratic values, economic ties, and a commitment to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific. Both the U.S. and Taiwan must continue to do everything in our power to deter China’s aggression.” (April 16, 2026).
Curtis has represented Utah’s 3rd District since replacing Jason Chaffetz in 2017. Born in Salt Lake City in 1960 and currently residing in Provo at age 62, he graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985.
