Senator John Curtis, a U.S. Congressman representing Utah’s 3rd district since 2017, recently shared updates on his work with local businesses and energy initiatives in Utah through a series of posts on social media.
On August 22, Curtis highlighted his engagement with the business community by stating, “Enjoyed hosting a town hall with the Sanpete County Chamber of Commerce, representing over 100 small businesses. Grateful to hear directly from local leaders about both opportunities and challenges. Working together we can continue to strengthen small business and support” (posted August 22, 2025).
Later that day, Curtis turned his attention to Utah’s energy sector after visiting a coal mine near Salina. He wrote, “I had the opportunity to tour one of Utah’s active coal mines and meet the men and women working to keep our homes powered and our economy strong. We need every single electron at our disposal, and resilient forms of energy to do it. The Utahns I met outside of Salina are helping” (posted August 22, 2025).
In another post on August 25, Curtis emphasized the importance of advancing new technologies for energy independence: “Utah must lead in developing energy solutions that are affordable, reliable, and clean. Exploring advanced nuclear technology aligns with our commitment to energy independence and reflects the kind of forward-thinking policy our state, and nation, needs.” (posted August 25, 2025).
Curtis has represented Utah’s 3rd District since replacing Jason Chaffetz in 2017. Born in Salt Lake City in 1960 and currently residing in Provo, Curtis graduated from Brigham Young University in 1985.
