Senator John Curtis, who represents Utah’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on September 12, 2025, to express gratitude for law enforcement and reflect on recent events.
In a post published at 14:23 UTC, Curtis wrote: “I am profoundly grateful for the swift and tireless work of our local police, Governor Cox, the FBI, and all law enforcement officers who came together in recent days. Their dedication and coordination in the face of tragedy remind us of the strength and professionalism of those”.
Later that day at 15:42 UTC, he shared a brief message referencing recent experiences: “Highs and Lows this week. https://t.co/GJL1HV9hWJ”.
In another post at 20:24 UTC on September 12, Curtis emphasized the importance of civility in political discourse: “We can disagree passionately. We can debate fiercely. But we must never lose sight of the humanity of those across the table or across the aisle. When we do, we lose more than civility; we lose the very fabric of our democracy.

John Curtis has served as a member of Congress since replacing Jason Chaffetz in 2017. Born in Salt Lake City in 1960 and currently residing in Provo, Curtis is an alumnus of Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1985.
