Senator John Curtis, a U.S. Congressman representing Utah’s 3rd district since 2017, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing international democracy, cabinet confirmations, and agricultural appreciation.
On March 23, Curtis reflected on his experiences in Taiwan during its period under martial law: “Having lived in Taiwan during the era of martial law, I saw firsthand a society striving for greater freedom. Over the past 30 years, Taiwan’s embrace of democratic elections has transformed it into one of the world’s most prosperous and innovative societies.”
The following day, Curtis congratulated his colleague Markwayne Mullin on his new role in the federal government. On March 24 he wrote: “Congratulations to my colleague @MarkwayneMullin on his confirmation as @DHSgov Secretary. I was proud to support his nomination and look forward to his leadership in enforcing our laws with compassion, responding to disasters, and keeping the American people safe.”
Also on March 24, Curtis recognized National Agriculture Day by expressing gratitude toward Utah’s agricultural workers: “On National Agriculture Day, we consider just how much Utah depends on the people who grow our food and steward our land. Thank you to Utah’s farmers and ranchers who work long hours, take on real risk, and keep our state running.”
Curtis was born in Salt Lake City in 1960 and currently resides in Provo. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985.
