Rep. John Curtis, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Utah's 3rd district since 2017, shared insights from his recent activities in Beaver County, Utah through a series of tweets. Born in Salt Lake City in 1960 and currently residing in Provo, Curtis has been an active participant in discussions concerning public lands, energy production, and resource management.
On March 18, 2025, Rep. Curtis emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among different levels of government to address various challenges. He expressed satisfaction with a meeting held with county commissioners and staff in Beaver County, stating "Coordination between federal, state, and local governments is essential to tackling the challenges we face."
Later that day, he highlighted the significance of water resources for Utah and its role in energy production during his visit to a historic hydroelectric power plant. Curtis noted "Water is the lifeblood of Utah and the West—including for our energy production." The plant he visited has been operational since 1907.
On March 19, 2025, Rep. Curtis toured Milford Mine in Utah and discussed issues related to copper extraction operations. He pointed out that much of U.S.-extracted copper is exported overseas due to domestic refining limitations. Curtis remarked "Unfortunately, most U.S. copper gets shipped overseas... because we no longer have the capacity to refine it."
